NEW - 2024 Ekka Education Program - Feeding the Future
It's vital the next generation understands that everything starts with agriculture, from the food we eat to the clothes we wear.
That's why the Ekka, Queensland's largest classroom, is committed to providing first class educational activities and facilities in the lead-up to, during and after Show.
Our exciting 2024 program aligns with Australian Curriculum, features new classroom resources and involves 15 competitions from gardening to cheese making and photography to video production.
These competitions give students the opportunity to have a fun, hands-on experience in the classroom while learning about how agriculture plays an essential role in their everyday lives.
Importantly, it focuses on the global theme - ‘Feeding the Future’ – which explores food production, technology, innovation, and environmental agricultural practices as the world builds a sustainable future.
In 2024, our competitions will be aligned with both Version 8.4 and Version 9 of Australian Curriculum to provide teachers an ease of application in the classroom.
Complete with all the resources teachers need, the program is designed to ensure fun, engaging and interactive learning outcomes.
Since 1876, millions of students have been inspired, educated and entertained each year at the Ekka and have taken part in true city meets country experiences.
The Ekka is focused on supporting and educating the next generation through the following initiatives:
